This present compilation of works represents our first collection of English Studies essays on the cross-currents of culture, history, literature, linguistics and language to be published by the State Higher Vocational School in Tarnow, Poland. It includes articles from colleagues at our institution as well as scholars from fellow European countries and the United States.
The number and variety of this year’s contributions represents works in Metonymy, Literature, Linguistics, History, Culture and Methodology. This journal is divided into 3 parts: Plenary Addresses; Literature and Culture; and Linguistics and Methodology. The 18 essays reflect work in a variety of fields and topics including studies on Wisława Szymborska and Anna Swir, Kazuo Ishiguro and Dick Gregory as well as on the issues of mass migration, dictionary studies and motivation in the classroom.
